THOMAS NEWMAN
b. 1710 d. between February 28, 1782 and September 3, 1782
THOMAS married ABIGAIL in 1735. They lived in East Kingston, RI
and Deerfield, MA. In the Deerfield records Vol II p. 17 "Thomas
Newman Tythingman 1765." Vol I p. 101 "Surveyors of Highways several times."surveyor
of highways several times. "Thomas Newman signed Association Test in Derryfield
in 1776." " Towards defraying the expenses of certain soldiers Thomas Newman
paid £0.95.00." "paid by individuals to hold on John Nutt, Enoch
Harney, Theophilus Griffin, & David Farmer, and others went with General
Stark at the Battle of Benenten."
The children of Thomas and Abigail are:
ELIZABETH - b. May 28, 1742 d. 1810.
THOMAS - b. May 6, 1744 d. June 15, 1821. The New Hampshire State
Papers Vol XIV page 160 states he served as a Revolutionary soldier from
Bath, NH age 31 in 1775. The Vermont pensions p. 39 states "pensioner
residing in Chittenden Co. VT. Private allowance $96 sums rec'd $297.16
service in N.H. Placed on pension roll June 11, 1819. Commencement of pension
May 12, 1818 age 77 died June 15, 1821."
SARAH - b. July 28, 1746 d. 1800. She married JOHN CROWN. (SEE
BELOW)
WILLIAM - b. December 10, 1749 d. 1815. He married Hepsibah in
1768. The New Hampshire State Papers Vol XIV p. 59 state that William was
a Revolutionary war soldier from Bedford, NH in 1775. The Vermont Pensioners
p. 39 state Pensioner residing in Chittenden Co. VT. private allowance
$96 sums Rec'd $1526.09 Service in N.H. placed on pension roll Mar. 10,
1819 commencement of pension May 12, 1818.
From the Milton VT. Deeds - "Aug. 15, 1806 Wm Newman of Strafford
Co. of Orange VT. grantee land in Milton, VT. transferred same land to
John Newman of Strafford N.H. 1808.
Feb. 13, 1815 John Newman of Strafford VT to Wm & Hepsibah
Newman wife of said Wm Newman.
Joseph Newman son of Wm Newman mentioned.
July 7, 1817 - Benjamin Newman yo John Newman of Milton."
From the Crown Family Statement "John Newman used to own farm
in Milton VT. where Camp Rich is now. He was a son of Sarah Newman's brother.
He used to go to Stafford VT visiting relatives. William Newman was brother
of John.

BENJAMIN - b. January 27, 1788 d. 1843. He was born in Strafford,
